Brewer's Advent Day 3: Fuerst Carl Pils

The Bavarian King Max I Joseph once, in May 1815, rewarded his field marshal Carl Philipp Prince von Wrede. He gave him the residence at Ellingen, which also included a brewery. Fine beers are still brewed there today. Most of them are typical Bavarian beer specialties; the brewmaster is traditional and attaches great importance to raw materials that come from the immediate vicinity.

The hops for Fürst Carl Pils grow nearby, in the brewery's own fields. The brewers care for and nurture them. They harvest, dry, and process the hops. The Bavarian varieties Mittelfrüh, Select and Merkur are used. They give the Pilsner a noble bitterness and aromas reminiscent of fir and pine, accompanied by resinous notes and a hint of elderflower.

Really enjoyed this one, best to date for me. Good balance of pilsner flavor and just enough hops to give a little character. I could drink a few of these.
