Features of the BeerTasting App

EAN Code Scan

The biggest change from a technical point of view is the switch to EAN code scanning. From now on, beers will not be found by taking a picture of the beer bottle, but by scanning the EAN barcode.

Completely new Profile

The personal section has also received a few changes from us. Personal statistics are now more prominently placed and more clearly arranged.

Improved Beer Rating

The beer rating itself has also been reworked. From now on, beers can be rated in steps of 0.1 instead of 0.5. This way you can take a closer look at your favorite beers and see finer differences in the rating between already rated beers.

Do I necessarily need a BeerTasting account to use the app?

You don’t need a personal account to use the basic features of the BeerTasting app, such as the beer scan, beer search or news. However, we recommend creating an account, otherwise you will not be able to rate beers (which will then be automatically saved in your private beer cellar), write reviews or add comments.

What are the requirements for using the BeerTasting app?

To use the BeerTasting app, you need a smartphone or tablet with internet connection, a valid email address and a lot of love for beer 😉

How do I create my BeerTasting account?

Tap on the burger menu (the three dashes) in the navigation and tap on “Login & Register” at the top of the list. You can either register with a valid email address and password of your choice, or simply through Google, your Apple account, or Facebook.

I have forgotten my password, what now?

If you forget your password, you can press the “Forgot password” button in the login area, and a password reset email will be sent to your email address.

How can I change my password?

To change your password, go to the burger menu (the three dashes) in the navigation and tap on “Profile” at the top of the list. Now scroll all the way down and tap on “Change Password”.

How can I log out of the app?

To securely log out of the app, go to the Burger menu in the navigation (the three dashes) and tap on “Profile” at the top of the list. Now scroll all the way down and tap “Logout”.

What are the costs of using the app?

None, the app is completely free and available for you to download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Why is my beer scan not working?

Basically, you have to agree to the program’s access to your camera when you use the app for the first time. If you have denied the app access to the camera in the first instance, you can do so at any time in your app settings in the device options. Instructions on how to do this can be found on the Internet.

The beer I am enjoying is not in the app. What can I do?

It’s easy! Call up the burger menu in the navigation (the three dashes) and tap on “Request beer”. Fill out the form, take a picture of the beer bottle (ideally a nice parallel frontal shot of the bottle) and click on “Submit”. Our hard-working staff will add your beer as soon as possible – as soon as that’s done, you’ll receive a push notification that the beer you requested is now online.

How can I delete a beer from my personal beer cellar?

Simply open the beer, tap on “Edit rating” and then on the three dots at the top right. Now tap on “Reset rating”.

How can I distinguish my absolute favorite beers from the rest of those tasted?

You can easily add your favorite barley juices to your favorites by clicking the bookmark button on the right above the beer bottle photo when rating the beer. These are then of course also available in the personal beer cellar.

How can I delete my BeerTasting app account?

You can easily delete your account: Open the app, log in, go to the burger menu in the navigation (the three dashes) and tap on “Profile” at the top of the list. Now scroll all the way down and tap on “Delete profile”.
